Our Team

  • Louis Hardin, Founder Edelweiss Autowerks Madison Wisconsin

Louis Hardin, Founder and Service Director

Louis grew up on a farm outside Brooklyn, Wisconsin, where repairing things was just part of everyday life. After graduating from Ohio Technical College’s Classic Car Restoration program, he set out to turn that early hands-on experience into a career. Nearly twenty years later, he’s worked in almost every part of the car business.

Along the way, Louis has wrenched on stock cars as a pit crew member, built experience inside dealership service departments, and even worked directly for Honda corporate. Most recently, he managed EuroTech, a high-volume European repair shop in the Twin Cities, and later led the Kellymoss Street Shop before its closure.

Edelweiss Autowerks was born from everything Louis learned during those years - bringing together the technical precision you'd expect from a dealership with the personal service you'd hope for from a small, trusted shop.

When he’s not at the shop, you’ll probably find Louis at a local car show or PCA event, tinkering with his 1979 Porsche 928 or his barn find 1972 Porsche 914-4, reading nonfiction, or searching barns across the midwest for his next acquisition.

Anna Brukner, Founder and Operations Director

Anna grew up in Oregon, Wisconsin. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point, where she majored in Healthcare Administration. She brings almost a decade of experience in strategic portfolio and project management, in addition to business growth and development best practices, to Edelweiss Autowerks. Anna holds a Certified Associate in Project Management certification from the Project Management Institute. At Edelweiss, Anna helps streamline day-to-day operations, ensures that large repair and restoration projects are managed effectively, and acts as a liaison between Edelweiss and the local automotive community.

Off the clock, Anna can often be found behind the wheel of her 1988 Porsche 944 or tinkering with her 1999 BMW 540i wagon, hosting dinner parties, planning fun road trips on Wisconsin’s back roads, or enjoying Minnesota’s North Shore.

  • Matt VonKomjathy, Shop Foreman

Matt grew up in Lodi and has spent his entire life around cars. His professional path includes time at Kellymoss, Zimbrick VW, and Graham’s Auto and Truck Clinic, along with a brief stint in the primate department at Covance (which qualified him for a management position here at Edelweiss).

He has owned a 1969 Beetle since high school. When he is not keeping European cars at their best, he can be found in his garage building choppers or in his deer stand. Matt lives in the sticks outside Madison with his lady, two kids, three cats, and a hound dog.

He was recognized as a 2014 Volkswagen Technician of the Year, and he is currently a strong contender for 2026 Edelweiss Autowerks Shop Foreman of the Year.

  • Elliott Torvik, Technician

Elliott hails from Excelsior, MN, where he grew up around Porsche automobiles - his dad purchased a 911SC new in ‘79, and Elliott has many fond memories of bombing around on Minnesota backroads in the vehicle. Elliott joined us as after working at some household names in the Porsche world - his experience includes several years spent traveling the world turning wrenches on resto-modded Porsches for Singer Vehicle Design, working on everything from 356’es to brand new GT3’s for Zweck, time spent as a technician at two Porsche dealerships, and even a stint owning a Porsche repair shop in LA. Elliott is perhaps the most well-rounded Porsche tech in the upper midwest - and we're so grateful that we get to share his talents with local Porsche owners.

Elliott recently rehomed the family’s 1979 911SC, but have no fear - he’s in the process of fixing up his 1988 944 that has been his trusty steed since 2013. Off the clock, Elliott can be found at the zoo or a local fishing hole with his wife and toddler, watching the Minnesota Wild or at Road America for vintage events.

  • Dalton Anderson, Interior and Soft Top Specialist

Dalton grew up in Cumberland, WI (a suburb of Rice Lake, we’re told), and attended WyoTech in Laramie, Wyoming. He completed WyoTech’s auto service technology program, and stuck around to take their add-on courses for custom chassis fabrication and automotive upholstery. He moved back to northern Wisconsin after college, honing his skills in the upholstery industry before moving to Madison to join the Kellymoss custom interior department, where he spent years hand-crafting custom interiors for Porsches of all ages. Dalton wears a lot of hats at Edelweiss Autowerks - an average day might find him doing interior work on a classic Porsche or hot rod, hanging brakes on a track car before it leaves for an event, doing hydraulic line repair on a 1990’s Jaguar convertible top system, or even running the front counter.

Dalton is perhaps unique amongst Edelweiss Autowerks employees in that he does not have a project vehicle currently, which perhaps means he is the most financially literate member of the team. Off the clock, he can often be found doing CAD part design and 3D printing, as well as exploring the greater Madison area with his wife.

  • A man with a beard wearing a black T-shirt with a small logo, standing in front of a textured white wall.

    Dylan Downing, Technician

Dylan grew up in Edgerton, Wisconsin, and has been turning wrenches professionally for over a decade. After earning his degree in Auto Service Technology from MATC, he spent time at a high-volume national chain before joining the motorsports world at Kellymoss. He brings a wide-ranging skill set to Edelweiss Autowerks, with experience that spans everything from vintage American vehicles to modern Porsches.

When he’s not turning wrenches at the shop, Dylan can usually be found chasing after his kids, fixing up his MG B convertible, riding his Harley, or exploring new countries with his family. He has a soft spot for old Ford trucks and classic farm equipment- but don't let that fool you. He knows his way around a flat-six, too.

  • A smiling man with curly hair, wearing glasses, a black t-shirt with Edelweiss AutoWorks logo, and a Snap-on Tools cap, standing against a white textured wall.

    Silas Beranek, Technician

Raised in Marathon, Wisconsin, Silas got his start in the transportation world the hard way - scrubbing down milk trucks for the local cheese plant. That early experience instilled a deep appreciation for vehicles of every kind, and it wasn’t long before he pursued a degree in Automotive Service Technology from Madison College. He later spent five years with Kellymoss, working in both their race and street divisions and gaining a rare blend of high-performance and daily-driver experience.

Silas specializes in European and Japanese vehicles, with a particular knack for performance work. His enthusiasm in the shop is hard to miss, and while he refers to himself as a “reformed WRX owner,” it’s clear his love of spirited driving hasn’t gone anywhere. Off the clock, Silas can usually be found road tripping in (or tinkering with) his 2002 Corvette Z06, shooting pool, or diving headfirst into the next adventure.

  • Bob Heller, Technician

Bob grew up in a body shop in Wisconsin Rapids, and was steeped in the collision repair and auto refinishing industry by his father. Bob attended MATC for a degree in auto service technology, and joined a high-volume national auto repair chain after graduating. After a few years there, he was lured to the forklift maintenance industry - but discovered he couldn’t leave cars behind, and joined Full Circle Restoration and Rods in Fitchburg on a part-time basis, helping with the teardown and reassembly of high-dollar American hot rods, muscle cars, and Corvettes. Bob has an affinity for GM products, and we’ve heard rumors that he has quite the fleet of old Buicks hidden in storage units across Green County. Bob handles in-depth projects on classic cars for us, as well as repairs on modern vehicles if needed.

Off the clock, Bob can be found working away in his wood shed or garden, hanging out with his chickens, or relaxing while playing Star Trek Online with buddies. We’re not saying that Bob is a handy guy, but he is the only team member who has dug their own well.

  • Dr. David Blehert, Technician

Dr. Blehert brings an exceptionally rare background to Edelweiss Autowerks. Originally from the Twin Cities, David holds a PhD in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and joined us after a distinguished career with the U.S. Geological Survey, where he served as Chief of Laboratory Sciences at the National Wildlife Health Center. He is a Scientist Emeritus for the USGS, a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology, and an Associate Fellow of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research. His work on white-nose syndrome affecting North America’s bat population has been published in journals including Science and Nature.

Alongside his scientific career, David has spent decades restoring and maintaining American, European, and JDM vehicles spanning the last eighty years. As a dedicated classic and sports car technician, he keeps a steady diet of Triumphs, Porsches, and Austin-Healeys on his schedule. He recently rehomed a 1972 Porsche 911 Targa after a two-decade ownership, replacing with another “emotional support vehicle” - a 1964 Corvette convertible. David’s analytical, evidence-driven approach strengthens our diagnostic process and helps us arrive at repair solutions more efficiently, which directly benefits both turnaround time and repair quality.

Outside the shop, he recently completed a full restoration of a 1964 Volkswagen Beetle purchased for $75 (and is starting on a BMW Isetta project), and enjoys sailing and riding classic foreign motorcycles during Wisconsin summers. David proves that at Edelweiss Autowerks, the doctor is always in.

    Frank, Shop Assistant

Frank does most of the actual work here at Edelweiss. He is off to college in the fall to study mechanical engineering.
